Serious Cases

Billy Bob Thornton

Billy Bob has some weird-ass phobias. In the past, Thornton has suffered from Aviophobia but in the post-911 world he says that he feels safer about flying now. Or rather, he feels safer about flying now that everyone else feels weird about it.

Thornton also has a fear of antique furniture...

I just don't like old stuff. I'm creeped out by it, and I have no explanation why...I don't have a phobia about American antiques, it's mostly French — you know, like the big, old, gold-carved chairs with the velvet cushions. The Louis XIV type. That's what creeps me out. I can spot the imitation antiques a mile off. They have a different vibe. Not as much dust.

...and certain types of flatware...

I won't use real silver. You know, like the big, old, heavy-ass forks and knives, I can't do that.

...And harpsichords?

"Pieces from 1700 and 1800 France and England really freak me out, especially harpsichords."

—Billy Bob Thornton to The Battalion

It's also been said that Thornton tries not to say his children's names out loud for fear of cursing them.

Woody Allen

Woody Allen has Panophobia: the fear of everything.

I don't like to go into elevators. I don't go through tunnels. I like the drain in the shower to be in the corner and not in the middle

He has also been said to be afraid of insects, sunshine, dogs, deer, bright colors, children, heights, small rooms, crowds, cancer and being anywhere but Manhattan.

I cut my banana into seven slices every morning before I put it in my cereal... These things don't hurt anybody else, but they are neurotic
