Heath Ledger is an Australian actor who was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 2005 for his role as Ennis Del Mar in Ang Lee's gay cowboy love story, Brokeback Mountain. On January 22, 2008, Ledger was found dead in a SoHo apartment face-down on the floor, surrounded by sleeping pills. Ledger was found by a housekeeper and a masseuse.

Ledger's first Hollywood girlfriend was actress Heather Graham, nine years his senior, whom he met in Prague in 2001. They dated for a year, then Ledger began dating fellow Australian Naomi Watts in 2002 after meeting on the set of Ned Kelly.Like Graham, Watts was 11 years older than Heath. The couple split two years later. Ledger then began dating and became engaged to Michelle Williams, whom he met on the set of Brokeback Mountain. Soon the couple were expecting. The couple has a daughter, Matilda. Heath seemed to love fatherhood. "I'm Mr. Mom. I get [Michelle] granola and cook her an egg, I clean the dishes, and then I'm cooking lunch. Later, I go out to the market and get fresh produce for dinner. And I love it! I love my new job." Williams and Ledger separated at the end of 2007. Ledger has reportedly been dating model Gemma Ward since early 2008.

Death

On January 22, 2008, Heath Ledger died of an accidental prescription overdose. "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Diazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam, and Doxylamine. We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications," said the New York City's Chief Medical Examiner. The drugs found near Ledger's body were almost all painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.
