The Victoria Beckham Story

Victoria Beckham born Victoria Adams on April 17 1974 is best known for being one fifth of the Spice Girls, a British pop group that exploded to world wide fame in the 1990's. Victoria Beckham as she is known to the world has also spotlighted as a model, solo artist, dancer, fashion designer, actress, author and businesswoman, but gets far more recognition as a style icon and the wife of British footballer David Beckham.

The David Beckham Story

David Beckham

David Beckham was born on May 2, 1975 and is best known for being a football midfielder (That’s soccer to you Americans) legend in his native England and the world where football is a much more recognized sport. He is currently on loan to Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, Major League Soccer team and still plays for the England National team. Much of his fame before marriage to Victoria Beckham was due to his soccer prowess beginning his career playing for Manchester United in 1992 at the age of 17. In 2003 he jumped ship and signed a contract with Real Madrid where he stayed until 2007, once again jumping ship and becoming the highest paid player in Major League Soccer history by signing a 5 year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy club.

The Marriage

Victoria Beckham and David Beckham were both exploding into fame in the 1990’s so it was only natural that they would eventually meet up. The future Posh and Becks as the media dubbed the pair met in 1997 after meeting at a charity football match. David Beckham was so entranced by her that he requested a meeting and the rest is history. David Beckham is even known to have pointed out Victoria Beckham in a Spice Girls music video and to have said

“	"That's the girl for me and I'm going to get her . . .She's my idea of perfection. . . I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever."	„

David Beckham proposed to the lovely lady on January 24, 1998 in a restaurant in Cheshunt, England. The couple was married in a fairy tale wedding (gag or vomit here) at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland on July 4, 1999. David Beckham’s team mate Gary Neville was best man and the couple’s four month old son Brooklyn Beckham acted as ring bearer, which means someone carried an unhappy baby down the aisle. Despite the best efforts to keep the media away from the lavish wedding reported to have cost £500,000, staffed by a staggering 437 people, photos leaked of the newlyweds atop golden thrones. This leak didn’t quash their exclusive deal with Ok! Magazine for photo rights however. The couple then purchased their first and most famous home together, a £2.5 million home in 1999, which was give a £3 million renovation and dubbed Beckingham Palace.

Brooklyn Beckham

Brooklyn Beckham and Suri Cruise

Brooklyn Joseph Beckham (Age 10) was born March 4, 1999 in London and was the couple’s first child, name for the location mummy and daddy were when they found out they were expecting. He weighed in at 7 pounds and a very excited and happy David Beckham told reporters a few hours after baby Brooklyn’s birth that

Brooklyn’s godparents are reported to be Elton John and David Furnish. He and his siblings are known to hang with the Cruise family, along with mom’s famous friends Heidi Klum and Eva Longoria Parker and their children.

Romeo Beckham

Romeo James Beckham ( Age 7) was born September 1, 2002 once again in London, weighing in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Little Beckham shares with big brother Brooklyn Elton John, David Furnish and Elizabeth Hurley as godparents. Once again Beckham was talking to the reporters soon after son number two’s birth stating,

“	”Romeo's gorgeous . . .He's got Brooklyn's nose and Victoria's chin."	„

In 2006 Victoria Beckham caused a stir by screaming at photographers for taking pictures of then four year old Romeo Beckham because he had been diagnosed with epilepsy. While the boy is on medication and there is hope that he may outgrow the condition as many do, the flash lights could have triggered a seizure.

Cruz Beckham

Cruz David Beckham was born February 20, 2005 via caesarean section in Madrid Spain. Cruz which is Spanish for cross, is also traditionally considered a girl’s name and created a controversy in the media. Were the Beckham’s just following the odd named Hollywood child trend of had they made a mistake? As they never answered the question, the world may never known. Cruz Beckham is known for his love of Batman, going so far as to dress as the bat himself at big brother Beckham’s ninth birthday party and also his love of break dancing.

All the boys are known for their love of break dancing and the Beckham's say they are still interested in having more children particularly a girl.

The Kidnap Plot

Victoria Beckham must have made some enemies along the way because in January 2000, a plot to kidnap Mamma Beckham and son Brooklyn Beckham and hold them at a house in London for a ransom was uncovered by Scotland Yard. The family was moved to a secure area but no arrests were made. After continuing with her life Victoria Beckham was at a rehearsal with the Spice Girls in March 2002, despite receiving a death threat earlier in the day. All was fun until a red laser light appeared on Victoria Beckham’s chest and she was rushed off stage. Later investigations found a fire door was wedged open and it was believed an assassin had been there an experience which terrified poor Mrs. Beckham. Security was beefed up around the family’s home Buckingham Palace as it is called and around the star herself. Once again in November 2002 yet another kidnap was planned and fowled this time by a British tabloid. Five people were arrested for the plot and later released due to an unreliable witness. To date there have been no more attempts on Victoria Beckham’s life nor attempts to kidnap her or her children.

The Affair

In 2004 the Beckham’s got thrown a curveball in to their happy existence. David Beckham’s former personal assistant Rebecca Loos claimed that the football star had had a brief affair with her in Madrid, Spain, where the star had moved to play, leaving his family behind in England. Despite denying the claims, within the week another woman had stepped forward to claim another affair had happened. David Beckham blasted the woman by saying that

“	”The simple truth is that I am very happily married, have a wonderful wife and two very special kids.”	„

He also allowed that nothing would change that. Victoria Beckham uprooted the kids and moved to Madrid to stand by David Beckham’s side, adamant that the relationship was fine and would survive.

“	“We have been through a lot worse than this. . . "I think we are a very strong family. We love each other to pieces. You work things out if you really love someone.”	„

The Jump Across the Pond

In 2007 when David Beckham was offered a contract with the Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, the Beckham’s packed up the palace, jumped the pond and purchased a $22 million Beverly Hills mansion with the tightest security known to man. Not really, it just boasts 10 security guards and state of the art equipment. To turn the already huge event into a media feeding frenzy, David and Victoria Beckham posed in their underwear on the cover of fashion magazine W along with a statement in the accompanying article about how the supposed affair made their marriage stronger. In addition to the cover Victoria Beckham also signed a deal to star in her own NBC special, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, with the hopes to turn it into a reality television show. The show showcased her time in L.A before the move preparing the home for her family’s arrival. Due to low interest the possibly of turning the special into a show was canned. The couple’s home places them near friends, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and Jay Leno amongst others.
